Frequently asked questions.

What is coaching, and how can I benefit from it?

Coaching is a thought-provoking and creative partnership that empowers you to maximize your personal and professional potential. According to the International Coaching Federation (ICF), coaching focuses on facilitating self-discovery, enhancing decision-making, and enabling meaningful action.

A survey by the Institute of Coaching revealed that 88% of people who received coaching experienced a significant improvement in their ability to focus on key goals, leading to better decision-making and productivity.

The Sherpa Coaching Survey revealed that coaching has been shown to reduce stress by 40% and increase feelings of well-being and self-esteem by nearly 30%.

Is coaching the same as therapy?

No, coaching is not the same as therapy. While both can be transformative, they serve different purposes and use distinct approaches.

According to the International Coaching Federation (ICF), coaching is a partnership focused on maximizing your personal and professional potential. It emphasizes forward movement, goal-setting, and actionable strategies to help you navigate transitions, achieve aspirations, and create meaningful change. Coaching assumes you are whole, capable, and resourceful, and it does not involve diagnosing or treating mental health conditions.

Therapy, on the other hand, often focuses on understanding and healing past experiences, managing mental health challenges, and developing coping mechanisms. It is typically more diagnostic and clinical in nature, aiming to help individuals address and resolve emotional or psychological issues.

If you’re unsure which approach is right for you, I’m happy to help you explore whether coaching aligns with your needs. Coaching can be a powerful complement to therapy for individuals seeking to create actionable steps toward their future while working on deeper emotional processes in therapy.

Do you offer a sliding scale at this time?

Yes, I believe coaching should be accessible, and I offer a limited number of sliding-scale spots in my practice. These spots are designed to support individuals who may not otherwise have access to coaching services.

If you’d like to learn more about availability or eligibility, please reach out to me at info@pivotinpower.com. I’d be happy to explore options that align with your needs.

What if my company wants to pay for my coaching—how does that work?

In this case, your employer will receive the invoice directly and be provided with a coaching agreement that acknowledges their role in covering the cost. The agreement will also clearly outline the confidentiality of our coaching relationship, ensuring your employer understands that they will not receive any details about our sessions. Your privacy and autonomy in the coaching process remain a top priority.

Do you provide workshops or talks?

Yes, I offer workshops and talks designed to inspire and empower individuals navigating career transitions, caregiving responsibilities, and personal growth. These can be tailored to meet the needs of your group or organization.

I provide these services in person in Southern California and remotely across the U.S.
